Definition:- 

Kilani discovered that when the aldose can be converted in to the epimeric aldonic acid which will introduced by the addition of the carbon atom by the addition of hydrogen cyanide further hydrolysis of epimeric cyanohydrins.


Step of reaction:- 

HCN 

Ba(OH)2 & H3O+ 

Na-Hg.H2O
