A total of 72 sects developed in India in the 6th century, in which Jainism, Buddhism, Ajivaka sect, Lingayat, Kapalika, Shaivism and Vaishnavism are prominent.





The word Jain is derived from the Sanskrit word 'Jin'. Which means winner.The main focal point of Jainism was 'Ahimsa'.Rishabhdev was the founder of this religion.The originator of Jainism is called Tirthankar.


Rishabhdev was the first Tirthankar of Jainism. Tirthankara means one who crosses the worldly ocean beyond sorrow.


Parasnath was the 23rd Tirthankara of Jainism.

He was born to King Ashwasen of Varanasi.




H Rishabhdev attained Nirvana on the Himalaya Mountains. A total of 24 Tirthankaras are considered in Jainism who propagated Jainism from time to time.Belonged to the Ichchhavaku dynasty. He got knowledge on Sammed Shikhar of Jharkhand, due to which the name of Sammed Shikhar became the peak of Parasnath.

24th Tirthankara of Ahimsa Jainism and last Tirthankara Mahavir Swami.He is called the real founder of Jainism.His father was Siddhartha, who was the king of the Gyatrik clan. His mother was Trishala. who is the sister of the Lichchivi king Chetak.His elder brother was Nadivarman. • His childhood name was Vardhaman.


He was born in 540 BC. It happened in Kundagram near Vaishali. His wife was Yashoda.His daughter was Priyadarshini (Annojja) and son-in-law was Jamali.

At the age of 30, he obeyed his elder brother Nandivarman,Left the house after taking it.

After 12 years of rigorous penance, he attained enlightenment in Jambhik village under a banyan tree on the banks of river Rijupalika. Attainment of knowledge is called "Kaivalya".After attaining knowledge, they were called Cavalin, Jean or Nigroth. Jean means conqueror while nigroth means free from bondage.

At present Jambhik village is identified with Parasnath mountains near Hazaribagh and Rijupalika river is identified with Barakar, a tributary of Damodar river. done as.He gave the first sermon in Rajgir on the Vitulachal hill on the banks of the Barakar river in Prakrit (Ardhamagahi language). While the last sermon was given in Pavapuri.

The first monk of Mahavir Swami became his son-in-law Jamali.

The first Jain nun was Champa. Who was the sister of King Dadhivahan.

  3. Asteya not ti take anything from a person without his will nor any such desire doing
  4. non-restriction no collection
  5. Strict observance of Brahma Charya Brahma Charya Vrat
Mahavir Swami gave the Triratna which are as follows-

  1. Right knowledge
  2. Right belief
  3. Right action 

Mahavira, after attaining enlightenment, established a Sangh in which there were 11 followers for the propagation of his beliefs. Mahavir Swami did not accept the existence of God, due to which he opposed idol worship and rituals. That's why they are also called atheists.

He believed in rebirth and told the soul to be the biggest reason for rebirth. To torment the soul, he said that after attaining salvation, one would get freedom from rebirth.

Mahavir Swami gave maximum emphasis on non-violence, due to which he banned agriculture and war. The sermons given by Mahavir Swami are called fourteen eastern

Kept in the book which is the oldest book of Jainism. Mahavir Swami gave his sermons in Prakrit language. • Mahavir discussed Anekantvad in his sermon.At the age of 72 in 468 BC. He died in Pawapuri (Nirvana) happened. Pawapuri was under Malla Republic at that time. Whose ruler was Hastapal.Aryasudharma was declared to be the first preacher after Mahavir Swami.
