In previous notes we have study about the food item which we can eat we know that each this is usually made up of one or more ingredient which  get plants and animal. 

Nutrients:- 

The ingredient contains some components that they are needed to your body is called as nutrients.

The major nutrients in our food are carbohydrate 

  1. Protein 
  2. Fat 
  3. Vitamin 
  4. Minerals 

different food item to see if they contain carbohydrates there are many types of carbohydrates the main carbohydrates found in our food are in the form of starch and sugar.

Test of starch :- 

  1. Take a small quantity of food item or raw ingredient 
  2. Add few 2-3 drops iodine solution on it.
  3. It give blue black colour
  4. Blue black colour indicate starch will be present

Test for proteins :- 

  1. Take a small quantity of food item for testing,food you want to test is a solid
  2. Grind or Mash a small quantity of food item,Put some of this in a clean test tube and shake the test tube 
  3. Add two drops of solution of copper sulphate and 10 drops of solution of caustic soda to the test tube 
  4. Shake well and test tubes stands a few minute it can change voilet colour

Violent colour indicates the presence of protein.
