Introduction :-  We know that scattering of light Nobel Prize given by CV Raman where scattering of light have to two types that is elastic and inelastic collision. CV Raman is Indian scientist.  Elastic collision means no change in energy this is called as rayleigh scattering.  Inelastic collision mean exchange of energy this is known as Compton effect.  Raman spectroscopy deals with rotational and vibrational spectroscopy.  Quantum theory of Raman effect that is Raman scattering could be understood in the term of Quantum Theory of Radiation Photon can be imagine ate to undergo collision with molecule.  E= hv  Photo collision with molecule buy inelastic collision and elastic collision.  Anti Stokes line  Rayleigh  Stokes line Radiation can be scattered with a frequency lower than of incident beam is referred as strokes radiation while that of higher frequency is called as anti Stokes radiation.  The molecules can gain or lose amoun...

Particle In One Dimensional Box

The particle in the box model system is the simplest non-trivial application of the Schrödinger equation, but one which illustrates many of the fundamental concepts of quantum mechanics.   For a particle moving in one dimension (again along the x- axis), the Schrödinger equation can be written.  ℏ is the reduced Planck Constant  m is the mass of the particle ψ(x) is the stationary time-independent wavefunction  V(x) is the potential energy as a function of position E is the energy, a real number This equation can be modified for a particle of mass m free to move parallel to the x- axis with zero potential energy (V = 0 everywhere) resulting in the quantum  mechanical description of free motion in one dimension:  Assume that the particle can move freely between two end points x = 0 and x = L, but cannot penetrate past either end. This is equivalent to a potential energy dependent on x.  Download Notes Link Here OK
